Alvin Translucent Cutting Mat 12 " x 18 "

I bought the exact same cutting mat at my local art store in 2006. There are no angled grid lines, so I went online to see if they still survived. That's how it is! I first heard about "self-healing" cutting mats back in 2006. And now he has kept his promise and even more! I tested the mat, usually overdoing it with various permanent ink and paint splatters and not paying much attention to where I cut (the company suggests moving the cuts around the board to reduce wear) . The only reason I bought a new carpet is because my old one is becoming opaque from all the stains. We used the old one to cut cardboard last night and it worked great. We save it for the dirtier jobs. Even without a lightbox, I've found translucency extremely useful on many projects over the years. For example the font alignment on my acrylic stamps for layered stamping projects. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the grid that includes 45ยบ and 60ยบ angles. I find the 12" x 18" perfect for my (rather limited) workspace. I can move it easily, but rarely have to. Even with all the cuts, I'm good at writing about it (my messy handwriting must find another excuse, lol). When I bring plastic into my house, it *must* be a multitasker. This rug won't see the landfill anytime soon like its predecessor. Since purchasing this rug, I've noticed that many of my favorite 'manufacturers' have either green or clear Alvin rugs in their sets. Alvin earned my loyalty with that first checkmate, and I just hope I'm right. I hope that sharing my experience with this invaluable tool will help someone and I wish everyone the best of luck in their projects.
