Bought to replace a Honeywell 1010 humidifier to meet filter wick specifications, but the filter wick is not long enough to fit snugly between the water supply and the fan housing flange. The air gap created by a filter wick that is too short causes air to flow around the filter wick instead of through it, reducing humidification efficiency. It is possible for the filter wick, as it has become soaked through with age, to elongate to fill the sealing gap.
