Didn't suit us

We thought this rug would be a great idea to use with our 3D pen. However, we couldn't get the thread to even stick to it. What do you think would be great, right? I mean that's the point. Well you need it to stick a bit to create your design. It needs to be glued initially, but it isn't. Maybe we're doing something wrong.
