In short my 6 and 2 year old cats are very very picky about litter boxes. We had a square box with a lid and they hated it so I got a box without a lid and they were fine. Not too much of a mess as long as it stays clean. We are moving, my 6 year old son hates our new house 😕 it has gotten very dirty! To the point where I had to make a garbage bag barrier around the litter box because he peed on the outside. Not very efficient and time consuming to clean every day so he doesn't pee on my floor. I was skeptical about paying that much as he didn't like the last lidded box I bought, but I'm really glad I did! I've had this tray for about a week and he's using it! Both do, and no more messing around outside the box! It's big and roomy, I included a laundry basket for size comparison because I didn't expect it to be that big. Steps collect most of the debris at the exit. As you can see I have an extra mat to catch what they don't have so I don't feel it all over the floor.
