I am not a "trained chef". but there is a fairly well stocked kitchen. What I was missing was a decent "chef's knife". In October I happened to be staying with a friend and they had this knife so it was great that I had the opportunity to use it several times before buying it. Farberware has always been a trusted brand and this knife did not disappoint. ESPECIALLY for the price! It also comes in a 'holder' with a sharpening tool that will re-sharpen the knife every time you put it back in the holder! Genius! How I hate sharpening knives. If you are looking for an inexpensive Christmas gift or hostess gift for someone, buy this knife! Pair it with good cheese and sopressata (Italian salami), an inexpensive cutting board and voilà! There is an outstanding gift for every gender!
