The funnel is awesome!

I always read reviews carefully before buying online. If I based my purchase of this funnel on all the negative reviews I read on here, I would still be looking for Harley's "Holy Grail" funnel. I bought this item anyway to try it out and as a Prime member it arrived in a day and a half. Great, I'm ready to change the oil and filter on my Road King '01. I followed the instructions provided to get started. I slipped the funnel under the filter, just behind the connector on the oil filter bracket. I replaced the 5 micron HD filter (14 groove cap) with an oil filter socket with a crank position sensor cutout. Contrary to other reviews here, I had absolutely no problem sliding the key lightly onto the filter. The space between the funnel and the filter is narrow, but wide enough to fit the cap wrench and still let the oil through. I made the whole hole in the filter, twisted it half a turn, let it drain for about 5 minutes, then began GENTLELY unscrewing the filter to drain at the joint. With the bike on the stand the oil effectively ran down the funnel into the plastic oil pan I placed under the spout and within 5-10 minutes the filter was sufficiently drained. I held the funnel with one hand and SLOWLY loosened the filter with the other, no big deal. The filter fell onto the funnel and I carefully removed it, then pushed the back of the funnel out from under the filter mount, lifted it slightly to drain the remaining oil and lifted it out. Place a rag under the filter mount to catch any remaining drips and clean the mount flange. JOB DONE and absolutely NO mess. I sat there and wondered how all these guys could make such a mess. If you are patient and take your time to complete this task, the funnel works great. Don't be the elephant in the china shop like most of us do. While waiting for the oil to drain, I also had a chance to clean the bottom of the bike, which I had put aside for a while. I'm very glad I bought this funnel! So in conclusion, I can't speak of removing the filter on other bikes or "putting it in" as Harley would say, but this thing worked great for my Road King oil and filter change. Sure, you'll be glad you don't have to take it to the theft service department for an oil change. I hope this helps anyone looking for an alternative to porridge and rag boxes. Safe driving, see you on the road!
