Review on Silent yet Powerful: The Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, Pumps 758 Gallons per Hour! by Angela Gershmel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable, quiet, trouble-free - you'll forget it's there

UPDATE: After almost three years of extremely reliable service, the pump failed. This pump performed well in what I would describe as harsh conditions. Even though I abandoned the plant tank idea, the pump still had to work in water that the EPA rated as very harsh. I replaced it with a DC pump which seems to meet my expectations for even more durability. Blockages, malfunctions, noise, loss of performance, blockages, freezing, blockages, broken impeller spindles, clogs. Who knows how many fish losses could be caused by poor filtration due to inadequate equipment. I have been confronted with this all the years that I have been involved in fish farming, more than 20 years. And then another pump threw me off again. This was a very strange version of a very common design that I bought from Revain. And now rest. First, it more than lives up to its name. It's quiet and has been since I got it and installed it. I have a drainage system. The pump is housed in a 22 gallon tank with a four foot riser to a pre-drilled 72 gallon half cylinder. There's often loose debris because I'm experimenting with the plant's soil system to help with filtration. Before you say it, other pumps have failed without excessive debris from the planted section. "Quiet" hasn't stopped because of the wreck. I sometimes turn it off and clean the collected dirt out of the intake - just to be "responsible". I paid less than I would have paid or would have paid for comparable and even smaller pumps in regular stores. I think I can say that this is the last pump you will buy - at least for a long time. This will definitely be your last stop in your search for a reliable brand at a reasonable price.
