Review on ๐Ÿšฐ Pentair Pentek EP-20 Carbon Water Filter: 20-Inch Whole House Replacement Cartridge with Bonded PAC Filter - 5 Micron by Scott Gendron

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does the job - kitchen and bathroom plumbing

I get city drinking water with 1-2 ppm chlorine (like a public pool) and 22 grain hardness (more than double what is considered "extremely hard" is applicable). "). When a water softener was installed in my house, I also installed a Pentek Big Blue 20" cabinet in front of the softener. I wanted a carbon filter for several reasons: 1) keep chlorine out of the shower and bath, keep away from my family 2 ) keep chlorine out of the washing machine as it bleaches our clothes 3) protect the resin in the water softener which should double its lifespan 4) protect plumbing (PEX pipes, rubber in fittings etc.) from chlorine 5) remove You a small amount of sediment that is in city water that collects in valves and fittings, I used a Pentek RFC20-BB radial flow activated carbon granular cartridge for comparison, this filter is cheaper, has a finer sediment filter (5 microns versus 25 microns) and rated for temperatures up to 180 F. Additionally, carbon block filters do not have the same wastewater problems as GAC filters, which at higher flow rates do little he are effective. drain. -BB This filter does not take that many watts of e. (total 40,000 gal. vs. 70,000 gal.) and has a larger pressure drop (5.5 psi at 5 gpm vs. 0.9 psi at 4 gpm). Neither of which bothered me much. We use less than 1000 gallons per week so the capacity easily exceeds a 6 month replacement cycle. In terms of water pressure, I get a solid 60+ psi in my house and even a 10 psi drop is imperceptible. If you already have printing problems, get RFC20.
