Let me tell you right away that this is not a premium tripod. But for the price, I think it's totally worth it. It takes a little learning and fiddling to figure out how to include it in all configurations. One of the legs comes off, but you can't put your head directly on the leg, you also have to remove the B-pillar. To do this you have to unscrew the small plug at the bottom, which also contains a retractable hook, and then pull out the shaft and screw it to the leg. This gives you a VERY long but very light monopod. The legs also unscrew so you can buy one of those foldable monopod legs and screw onto the monopod leg. The picture shows the head attached to the monopod without the additional pole. I don't think this is actually possible as the shank itself is too heavily threaded to screw the head onto it. I would like to know if I'm missing something, but I think they just took this picture and it's not a real feature. The tripod goes up about 6 feet and still seems pretty stable. Most puff dials are made of plastic, but the legs and crown ARE metal. I found the head really smooth. For example, smoother than some tripods I've used that were more expensive than this one. It's also very light. I don't think I'll ever put enough on it to raise its weight limit, but I'd be a little apprehensive about pushing the gimbal all the way onto the monopod. It can hold up well, but it's so light that I'm concerned about foot thickness and sagging under too much weight. Overall I was looking for something with a decent video head as well as some extra features (like a monopod). I'm planning to add a leg and possibly a trolley to my kit, but overall I really like it. If anything happens to change my rating (like if it breaks or something) I will unsubscribe. Someone asked if there was a catch, so I posted a photo.
