Four stars because it's too early to give a good rating. it said. They work fine. I have two of these on each end of a 110G tank and they fluctuate about every five seconds. One of them seems to have a bit more noise than the other. I can't compare with my old ones because they are twice the size. It's 1600 GPH. Compared to others I've heard from aquarium shops I would say they are second to none. As for performance. They do an excellent job of moving my water from top to bottom without a lot of dead zones and no bad hotspots. They stop instantly when the power is cut off and start smoothly when called to work. They don't spin backwards and I don't hear any game play on startup. Obviously they were made for hesitation. As I said, it's still too early to talk about durability. If they mess up the bed anytime soon I'll try to update the review and let you know.
