Great until it's gone

It's been 13.5 months. We used it in a small tabletop fountain that sits on our patio. Died last week. The photo in the product information is deceptive - it doesn't come apart as easily as it looks in the photo. In particular, the impeller attached directly to the rotor does not slide out easily as shown in the figure. In fact, it was damn hard to remove. I wanted to see what exactly went wrong (probably because the impeller wasn't spinning well, but I wanted to know why it was spinning hard) and it took me about 45 minutes with a hacksaw and a screwdriver to pry the thing apart take. especially the rotor which is just a cylindrical dipole magnet. It sits in a small cylindrical recess in a plastic case - with no bearings that I thought might bind. The rest of the engine appears to have been cast into the body. I could never figure out why he was moving so violently. But it didn't burn out - the windings on both sides of the rotor were fine. Finally, the reader should be aware that while trying to find a more reliable device, I noticed that many 'different' brands use the same design, which strongly suggests they all come from the same factory in China. Sigh. So now, in addition to finding the best design/manufacturer, I must once again carefully evaluate the external dimensions and configuration of the outlet and power cord - the well on our well is comfortably deep, but very narrow and only a small maximum unit and configuration will work. Hope this helps someone else.
