Review on COVERGIRL Eyeliner Sharpening Blending Packaging by Jessica Thomas

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Would have gotten zero stars

First I received a box of 2 pencils instead of one. (Technically they sent me the wrong product I think). That would be good, right? NO WAY. I've been using all types of eyeliner since the late 80's and this is by far the worst I've ever tried. The point is not "fine" and does not make a "perfect point". It is as thick as a broken regular sharpening stone, which CANNOT BE SHARPENED. And as a rule, a cream formula is more comfortable to work with than a dry one, but if you're not mistaken, this eyeliner goes on everywhere except where you want it. The rubber grind only adds to the frustration compared to using a squispier one like Maybelline's thin liner. I thought okay, maybe I can use an eyeliner brush to get a decent line instead of bouncing or dumping it. But the real deal breaker is the formula. It irritates my eyes (rarely) and DOESN'T LAST AT ALL - it smudges and never settles. Even with fixing powder! What not to use. Between the formula getting in my eyes/irritating them and the inability to stay still, it all comes back. I never write a review the day after receiving and trying a product but it was such a disappointment and inconvenience. I want to be as close to 100% cruelty-free as possible (unfortunately most drugstore brands aren't, but thanks to Wet n Wild, Rimmel, Essence and Coty/Cover Girl for reinforcing that). Unfortunately, Coty/Cover Girl still has a long way to go in terms of formula.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE COLORS - choose from black onyx or brown sable for any occasion
Cons
  • Some difficulties
