UPDATED 1/28 Item returned. The route was recalculated several times out of the blue. I was in New York going through the Lincoln Tunnel and blocking when nothing showed (all white screens). I said "tell" and had no lead for about 30 seconds. Needless to say I was angry. I bought a GPS to not be afraid of making a mistake and getting lost on a side street. and ended up almost at the same position with GPS! This happened again two days later. I'll get a newer nuvi 40LM as a replacement and see how it goes. This is my first GPS. I usually meet up with friends, but for $99 it's time to get one for myself. The device arrived and I used the USB cable that came with it to connect to my laptop and create an account on [.]. Quick firmware update and reboot, then I had to download two new maps (not sure why I had to have the previous maps, but the version number was 2011.10 and 2011.30) and I was aware of that. I love the fact that I can use it when walking my dogs in the bush or taking it on my boat. I can locate a house in latitude/longitude and return there by bike, foot, boat or car. The [.] page is very cool. Download the browser plug-in and the website will communicate with the GPS to ensure maps and firmware are up to date and receive a serial number for registration. Very pretty and very smooth. I am happy with the GPS. and if this one dies I'll buy another one.
