I bought this to keep my ears from crackling in the desert and I have to say Uncle Sam's design isn't the best for that purpose. I assume that only 2.5 inch wide bezels will not affect the look on long arms. This offers some protection but leaves the nose and neck fairly exposed depending on the sun exposure. That's three layers. thick in the stripe and most of the upper is double layered due to the "map pocket". The material drips onto the water, making it very wet and soaking in sweat quite quickly. The label says 65% Polyester 35% Cotton and it is water repellent. It's made from regular Milspec ripstop material and isn't breathable at all. Materials, lighter and simply better all around. Label reads: TRUSPECHat, sun, hot weather Type IIOSFM65% POLYESTER 35% COTTON WARNING Initial loose fit is essential for continued comfort. WASHING Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent.
