I use this hat for gardening. I liked the fact that a scarf was attached to it to shade the neck, but the way the buttons are placed for this scarf had to have a small head like an 8 year old to use it. Path. I could just pin it to the hat, so it doesn't really matter. However, I got used to pulling my hair through the hole between the back of the hat and the adjustable Velcro. My hair protects my neck from the sun, the hat holds my hair back, and the brim of this hat shades my face and ears beautifully. Extremely functional even if the scarf is useless.
