I bought this optical attachment to project a range of images in my video productions. Having tried many other snoods I was surprised that this particular model didn't shed as much light as the others. This may be because the front element is a good size, which is an advantage over other optical attachments that require real camera lenses. A disadvantage is that the device is not completely sealed. and some light leaks out the sides of the device. This is not usually a problem as it does not interfere with the beam projected ahead. However, it can be an element to consider when shooting in small spaces where reflected backlight can reduce the contrast of the scene as a whole. The tip is made of high quality aluminum. and a bit heavy. very easy to use and is a good addition to most lighting repertoires.
