Best cat litter mat we've ever used

We've set up a small rescue cat litter in our house and have tried MANY types of cat litter mats for years. We discovered the iPrimio mats a few years ago and think we've found the gold standard. iPrimio carpets are hard-wearing and very well made. We have several homes and have just bought two more for our family's cabin. We use SmartCart litter, which is made from dried grass and is much more environmentally friendly than traditional clay litter, but its particles are larger and tend to leave more marks. We found the iPrimio mats to be very good at trapping dirt. This litter is more expensive than clay litter, so we particularly appreciate the fact that we can dump stuck litter back into the bowl without spilling it all over the place. As mentioned, the mat consists of two layers: the top layer is perforated to trap the filler, and the bottom layer is solid to keep the filler in place. The mat is open on three sides to make the box easier to clean if someone "misses" it. You can also place a washcloth between the two layers for added protection, although we didn't find this necessary. We appreciate that this design allows us to easily clean and sanitize the mats when needed. iPrimio carpets are more expensive than many more traditional carpets, but they are very durable, do the job perfectly and, in our opinion, are good value for money. And our cats don't hate them. They have a certain elasticity and don't get in the way of our old cat paws (and ours when we step on them in the dark). We sincerely recommend these rugs.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
