This is the perfect solution but with some limitations

Many people who own cars built between 2000 and 2015 probably have a useless CD player somewhere on the dashboard and this one a crafty little retailer makes use of this slot to provide you with a phone holder. I bought a few of these for myself, my wife and family/friends, it's just such a simple solution to a modern day problem. Now there are a few caveats about this device: 1) Your CD slot must be set high enough on your dashboard to use it. Unlike other designs of this idea, the Koomus mount is very "mounted in place" and doesn't offer much vertical adjustment. That way it will be where it is installed. 2) Your phone must not be too deep. This one is less common but seems to work best for the women I've seen. Many of them keep their phones in their wallets and since the wallets are filled with things that can scratch your phone, they keep their phones in cases and some of them use these "flip cover" style clutch cases. Maybe I'm not describing it well, but the case opens like a book and folds behind the phone. If you're using one of these, or a case with a battery extension, this guy is going to have a hard time keeping a firm grip. As they say, this thing works great and is definitely preferable to obstructing your vision. by sticking something to the windshield or using a suction cup or permanent mount (or cup holder). Try it. PS You can still use the CD player as long as this thing is there, you obviously have to load the CD into the player first.
