Tiny gauge of wire, doesn't appear to be very strong

Moving this thing from my trailer to my tractor I accidentally ripped off the outlet part and was surprised at how small the gauge of wire was inside considering that it is so small must feed up to 8A. Maybe that's okay, because at least during my use, while it was quite hot, it wasn't enough to be alarming and the heat seemed to be coming from the brick, not the wire. Although I'm sure it rattled and rumbled quite loudly in the back of my trailer when I was dragging it down the street, I never got it to work again. I even repaired an outlet once. (I have an electrical engineering degree, so I've repaired tons of different electronics, which is a useful skill.) So that tells me it wasn't durable enough to survive on my RV floor, regardless of the outlet. Railed while towing and just got too many hits. For both of those reasons, I'm going to try my luck with the AstroAI 10A AC/DC converter, especially since I'm using it to power a heated mattress pad designed for truckers that suck quite a bit of juice when you crank it right high. And I can only recommend it! This is Electrowarmth Twin Heated Mattress Pad, Model T36.) Anyway, I hope you find this useful! If so, consider paying upfront by sharing your product review to help other people make their purchasing decisions.
