they look really good. I have a cold white, reminiscent of ice cream, which is exactly what I wanted. They hung pretty easily, I use this lantern extender which allows me to hang the lanterns with clips without climbing onto the roof. I run my lights like this: I start at one end of the roofline and connect each strand together (this requires you to remove the connector from the end of each strand and then connect the male/female connector). ends - though you get a couple of separate caps depending on how many strands you bought) and then at the other end of my roofline I close the end with one of the caps from one of the individual strands. The end of the fork I started with hangs low enough where it's at arm's length so access to the knob on the fork is more convenient. The only thing is that because the plug doesn't have a memory chip to remember your light cycle settings, you can't set it and forget it, which can be quite annoying but at least with the way I run mine needs it I don't want to climb or run to the roof, change every setting on every strand. The manufacturer had to make the 400th PC with memory the same way they did the 800. They also had to make it very clear in the ad so people could preview it without selecting the 800 to see the difference.
