If you're welding new sheet metal to old sheet metal, this is a must have. When restoring our old car, we continued to burn holes in the old sheet metal. We bought this tool and one of us held the copper behind the weld. The copper prevents the weld from punching a hole in the metal. Works perfectly. We also used an old piece of copper pipe that had been crushed with a hammer. This has given us a wide reach. Both worked great for wire feed welding. Welding old sheet metal without copper backing is very difficult.
