Difficult to remove for cleaning

When I put them on they fit well but when I tried to remove the filter on the cleaning tank I had a very hard time getting it out! I figured it would break due to the force and wobble I had to use to get it out. I've never had this problem with my original filter. I don't know if this one is defective or something but I'm hesitant to reset it now and have my dirty old one to fall back on which luckily I kept.
