I often say "I love this car seat!” Being in a closed carrier was very annoying for my puppy and when it was closed the whole puppy sickness experience was very frustrating so we needed an open car seat and an option with dishes. This seat is like a bed and she loves it. I use the built in harness AND belt for a dog car seat and it is very safe and comfortable. She's long for her weight (currently around 15 or 16 pounds and about 20 inches from neck to buttocks, somewhere between 24-28 inches when stretched) so I needed something bigger that was a bit flexible (not hard or high walls). ) It is perfect as you can see from the photos. She feels very comfortable in it. I like pockets on both sides. There I have her leash and a small pull-out water bowl (for emergencies). I wish it was waterproof. She still has car puppy sickness and while cleaning is easy (we machine wash and dry the cover and it's like new), the foam soaks through and it would be a design improvement if there was some water in the material. Resistance against it to protect the foam from accidents. The strap that runs down the middle of the seat is a bit long from what I get and needs to be adjusted for different car designs. I tie the straps in a half knot before joining the straps to form a loop. I can attach a bungee cord to the loop and around the seat headrest. So much safer! I am very happy with this purchase! This is definitely the right style and function for us!
