Review on Sanyo SEC TDR02N Eneloop Travel Charger by Whitney Byers

I bought this charger from Revain. It was broadcast by Adorama Camera. The picture and description matched the Sanyo NC-MDR02NU 2 cell charger and I was very surprised when I received the SEC-TDN02N. These two chargers are very different. MDR02 can charge AA and AAA while TDN02 can only charge AA. About half the batteries I use are AAA, so the TDN02 charger is a waste of money to me. I went to the Sanyo website to check if the TDN02 is a smart charger and again I was surprised because this charger isn't there! Is this a genuine SANYO product? If anyone doesn't know why a smart charger is better, it's because it can detect when the battery is full to stop charging, unlike other chargers that only rely on charging time. If the battery has not been fully discharged, the time-based charger will recharge the battery. Otherwise, the battery will overheat, which can significantly reduce the life of the battery or cause it to be completely discharged. Heat during the charging cycle is the worst enemy of NiMH batteries. Overloading is also the main cause of what is known as the memory effect. It's also not clear to me if this charger can charge single batteries like the MDR02. A google search gave me very little about TDN02 and I don't think it can, but I can't say for sure as I haven't opened the retail box. I'll try to return it and if I can't I'll add more info here. I have many chargers. Among them I have the NC-MDR02NU which I definitely recommend and give 5 stars but since I don't have that I'll only give it 1.
