I bought a workstation for my laptop, an external monitor and a mouse. This desk is perfect for this type of laptop setup in a small space. I like that the building guide was clear, with the right balance of text and illustrations to be a good building guide. An important aspect of assembly is to ensure the shelves are fitted on the correct side (left or right) that you want. To ensure proper placement, you must be careful to place the three support legs in the correct order so that the shelves are on the desired side. The instructions made it particularly clear how to align the three leg inserts in the correct order. The packaging was well made and unpacked easily, although the styrofoam packing blocks were poor quality and rained down styrofoam particles that had to be vacuumed after assembly. The packaging of the nuts and bolts was very well done: separate plastic bags were attached for each type of bolt and nut with the appropriate number corresponding to the place each set had to end up at each stage of the assembly process. All of the bolts, except those attached to the body, were bolted to threaded nylon nuts that were recessed into the mounting points on the table. Countersunk nylon nuts made securing the bolts much easier. Shelf bolts, of which there are only 8, do not have countersunk nuts, just pre-drilled holes for screws in the chipboard. Screwing directly into chipboard almost guarantees that the screws won't hold if they're ever removed, but when I installed them they screwed in just fine. Why didn't the manufacturer include countersunk nuts for all the screws, maybe it's a cost saving, but it's a saving that the table doesn't have to be disassembled after assembly. If you need something that can be disassembled when not in use and reassembled when needed, look elsewhere. All screw holes matched perfectly, there were no problems during assembly. The instructions say you only need a Phillips head screwdriver. In fact, a workbench or table is useful, especially for installing shelving, and you'll need a small socket wrench and 10mm socket or wrench in addition to the Phillips head to tighten the screws at the end of the build process. The assembled table is strong enough for its intended purpose but not for really heavy objects like an aquarium.
