Review on ๐ŸŽค Canon 2591B002 DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone - Black, Ideal for HF/HG Series Camcorders by Joshua Fuoco

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bought for my Canon Vixia HF M50 - PERFECT!

It didn't take long to find out that this was the mic I was looking for. Every time I searched "external microphones," the DM-100 landed at the top of both the "Best Seller" and "Top Rated" lists. Now that I have it in my hands I understand why. If you have a DM-100 compatible Canon camcorder, there's no need to look any further. Design: 5/5 As soon as you pick up this microphone, you will feel that it is of high quality. I bought another gun mic before this one and it seemed flimsy and fragile to me. Not so with the DM-100. It feels durable and well made. There are no rubber bands to hold this mic in place. Although it fits snugly against the camera, it doesn't pick up the sound of movement. I've been walking around the house with this for a while and the cushioning design works great. Ground clearance is great, even for people with big hands like me. Ease of use: 5/5 plug and play. The camcorder recognized the DM-100 immediately. One feature that sets this mic apart from other pistol mics is the ability to choose from three different settings: shotgun (mono), 90 degrees (stereo), and 120 degrees (stereo). Each mode does exactly what you think it does. The mode switch is conveniently located on the back of the microphone. I don't know how many other mics give you the ability to switch from shotgun to stereo, but I haven't found any others in my search. Indoor sound quality: 5/5 Used to record voices, ambient noise and instruments. In my opinion, almost the professional sound you could hope for from a $200 microphone. Seriously, it sounds GREAT. Outdoor Sound Quality: 4/5 Still sounds great, although the included windscreen completely eliminates only very light breezes. Holds up in fair winds but lets some noise through. In general very satisfied! Worth every penny. If you're looking for a versatile microphone that sounds great with your Canon, you've come to the right place. Buy it! Currently!
