This white epoxy is just what the doctor ordered for white china or other white kitchen/shower/bathroom repairs. It grabs very well and heals pretty hard. Once cured, it definitely resembles plastic, but it's a hard plastic. If you're not very good at applying things like sealer and paint, this might be a little disappointing. I just haven't found a way to apply the material in a thin, even layer. They tell you to use a wooden spatula, so I dug up a wide popsicle stick. Big mistake. He just encouraged me to put on too much material. Next time I'll use a toothpick. I think building up the epoxy to a reasonable thickness would be better than trying to apply a large glob that has to be smoothed out like icing and then removed. Get ready to grind a little. Maybe a lot of grinding. You get two grinding wheels in two different grits, both of which are on the finer end of the spectrum. Use a coarser grit to remove material and a finer grit to finish the repair. If you have a lot of repairs to do, consider purchasing additional grinding wheels/sheets. The discs supplied quickly become clogged, so you have to use more force and remove less material. You may be able to "freshen up" the included discs by brushing them with a wire brush, but I didn't bother. I just took another sheet of paper that I had on hand and used it. This sheet was significantly rougher than what comes in the kit and did a good job of removing excess material. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you finish with a finer grit. Sanding down the epoxy to the appropriate thickness over the chipped area will make the material less opaque so you may notice that the chip underneath is starting to show through. a little. Such was the case with my kitchen sink, which is made of porcelain over black cast iron. This problem can be compensated for by leaving the material a little thicker above the chip and then smoothing the cut from there. The good news is that if you're repairing lighter materials like plastic or cast aluminum, a thinner coat of epoxy is probably enough to hide the damage. Time? Does coffee, tomato sauce and dirty dishwater discolour it? The time will show. But at the moment things are looking pretty good.
