Finally decided to transfer tapes from miniDV camcorder to hard disk. The Sony DCR-PC110 camcorder has a Firewire 1394A port, but my new computer doesn't. It was easy to open my computer case and insert this PCIe card into a free slot (I didn't connect the power input to the card as I don't want to use port 1394 to power devices - I only use it for data transfer). Upon reboot, my Windows 10 OS recognized port 1394. My Adobe Premier Elements software doesn't recognize the camcorder because it's out of date for Adobe support. I ended up downloading an old free program called WinDV that could recognize my camcorder and download the tape data to my hard drive in AVI files. I could then import these AVI files into Premier Elements for editing. This firewire card was perfect for this application. Now I have about 20 more tapes to copy. Excellent 720 x 480 video storage quality thanks to this Firewire card.
