I had to drain my new 75 gallon aquarium as I wanted to check for leaks before using. Use a 1" fitting and about 8 feet of 5/8" hose with an inside diameter of about 1.5 feet (the pump will be placed at the bottom of the tank and will pump water over it and then a little higher) and a single 90 degree , it took about 45 minutes. Definitely not "660 GPH". I held the hose almost straight up to test the head and yes it can push water up to 8 feet. A bit slow. but does it anyway. For me, I only use it for water changes, so I don't mind the extra pumping time. but it can affect others. And for the price, it's not bad either.
