These pants fit well for my son who has trouble finding uniforms and for an 8 year old slightly larger than average but very thin is (52 inches high). , waist 20 inches, inseam 21 inches, 50 pounds). The waist has an adjustable elastic so I can slim it down to fit him, but the pants aren't big enough to look weird after being tightened at the waist. I think they would be a good fit for an average sized child but not for a heavier child. The pants are a nice weight, feel comfortable and look presentable for my son's school uniform. The legs themselves have a straight, traditional fit and no shape. fit. My only complaint and this is not the main issue) is that they wrinkle a little when washed but not enough to look awful and I feel like I need to iron them like some of the other uniform pants we've had.
