Review on IceCap K1-Nano Protein Skimmer: Optimize Aquarium Filtration with Efficiency by Natasha Weston

I bought this product because it was one of the few skimmers that fit in the back of a 32.5 Fluval Flex Marine. I was very excited to set everything up and move it around. I had no problem setting up the skimmer and it worked great and productively for about 4 months. then the first incident happened. In the middle of the night my smoke alarms went off and I was greeted by a room full of smoke and the smell of melted plastic. The skimmer (recently cleaned) suddenly opened a little wider than usual and spilled straight into the drain. I was able to keep it all and get rid of the smell but decided to try the skimmer again assuming it was my fault. another two months passed and the skimmer worked perfectly; However, one night before bed, noticing that the overflow was quickly refilling, I pulled the skimmer out of my tank and noticed the outlet valve slowly opening. Since then I've invested in a higher quality overhanging brand with no problem. When installing this skimmer, just be careful and inspect thoroughly before and after cleaning.
