Review on AccuSharp 015C: Diamond-Honed Tungsten Carbide Sharpener Multipack - Restore and Hone Blades of Knives, Garden Tools, and Scissors Effortlessly by Chelsea Martin

Works well when used correctly

Of the three sharpeners in this set, the AccuSharp knife sharpener is the easiest to use. Just hold it in line with the blade and move it in one direction with only light pressure (grab the tip) so you don't remove too much metal and roughen up the edge. It works! (By the way, AccuSharp makes a separate sharpener for fillet knives, which I have several in my kitchen.) The scissor sharpener is less convenient. You should be able to see or feel the sharpener at the bevel. And you have to keep it at the same angle with every shot. Unfortunately, I've never been good at it. I had problems with GardenSharp. All of my bladed gardening tools are only beveled on one side - the other side is perfectly straight, no bevel. I mistakenly assumed GardenSharp was configured that way. Not so. Although a chamfer is flatter, a chamfer is created on both sides. So when I tried to sharpen a couple of bypass loppers, I realized too late that the sharpener had started a second bevel on the straight side. Instead of cutting cleanly, the pruners now clog with something under the new bevel. They're not permanently damaged, but I have to sharpen the blade until the new bevel is gone. I could have saved myself some trouble if I had looked closely at the picture on the box rather than relying on guesswork. So it looks like I don't have a suitable application for GardenSharp after all. Regardless, AccuSharp is a good product that works well when used correctly in the right application.
