Great toilet mat! He had a few years. Between my own cats and adopted cats, this mat has been used by about 13 cats over the years. Still in perfect condition! This carpet can and should be vacuumed as often as possible. No problem even with daily vacuuming. I usually take it outside once a month, clean it and let it air out and disinfect in the sun. Once every few months I treat with a disinfectant. Then allow to dry before using again. I had to wash it because one of the dogs threw up on it and I couldn't wash it. Super rinsed. No problem. I put it outside on the railing to let it dry completely. I put the tray without the mat and then compared it to this one. Of course there was a lot of rubble and no mat directly in front of the box. With this mat, it catches all the dirt between the holes. I lift the top layer, sweep up the debris with my little broom, and then throw it back in the box instead of trying to fold the rug and put it back in. Don't imagine a rug that catches absolutely everything. I don't notice any trash in the other rooms so that's great too. Also note that this mat is thicker than most, so it's best to have the tray fully or not at all on the mat, otherwise it will wobble a bit.
