The reinforced toe box keeps the shoes from falling apart if your child drags their feet while riding a trike (this happened to my son's other pair from Carter; he ended up with a big hole in his toe and we had to throw them out) - Sizing is accurate . - The band material is soft enough to avoid blisters during the break-in period. The only problem I've found so far is that one of the shoes is beginning to fray on the side. But that was after my son actually put them through the wringer. I gave them to his little sister and bought him a new pair. I really like these in general.
