On par with Wüsthof, a fraction of the cost

I have many different types and brands of knives. I'm by no means a professional cook, I'm just a regular home cook who cooks about 7 meals a week and very rarely sweet pastries. I usually use a 6″ Wüsthof chef's knife and a 7″ KitchenAid Santoku knife. On my endless search for the best cooking tools, I came across this Orblue knife. I bought an 8 inch kitchen knife which is the longest blade I have ever owned. I really wasn't expecting much from a cheap $23 knife and expected it to be as decent as my KitchenAid Santoku Blade which was around $20. . I was impressed with the way it was packaged and the overall quality. If this was a gift you could have led me to believe it would be a $70+ knife. Its weight is heavier than I expected, definitely heavier than the Wusthof knife, but I prefer heavier knives to lighter ones. The blade is very sharp, well made, with a real wood handle and stamped metal base. The wood pattern looks etched, but in such a way that no grooves stick. the ingredients you cut. The blade is fantastic, on par with my Wusthof knife in its prime before I dulled the blade and hadn't sharpened it professionally. It's strong enough to cut through large sweet potatoes and gentle enough to shred a rum tomato without crushing it completely. It can chop garlic and fresh herbs like sage and coriander finer and faster than my other knives. It's also great for slicing roast chicken, shredding or deboning raw meat, and even cleaning fish. This is truly a versatile knife. Like other knives with a thicker blade, it's not ideal for slicing squash or hard-skinned melons - you need a knife for that. But for your varied everyday ingredients, this knife is great! This is my #1 knife in my drawer and now I cook all the time. Knife reviews also seem to include other strains that I've read many sarcastic bread knife reviews about. Ignore them and be sure to buy an 8 inch kitchen knife! I will definitely be buying another one for my sister's birthday.
