Just received today and all installed. Assembly required absolutely no tools and took five minutes! For background, I spent an hour or two trying to find a bookshelf here on Amazon as I had just moved and all my books were in a box in my closet. I've compared several bookshelves in this $40-$80 price range and found that all of the faux wood shelves were flimsy and poorly constructed, and at this price point there isn't much else that's really available. But after reading the reviews about it I decided to buy it and was so surprised at its quality for $50! Factual Review: As I said, assembly is easy - just twist the metal rods. Once assembled this bookshelf supports a lot of weight making it very durable even on my carpet. But it's not difficult at all, just perfect. I have a laser printer at the top of a shelf with random books like my dictionary, thesaurus, French dictionary, etc. The second shelf is fully stocked with a selection of literature. Hardback and paperback are packed together. I have the largest hardcover books at each end of the shelf propped against a metal bar to act as a wall for the rest of the books and it works great. On the bottom shelf I have about 20 medium sized books and some heavy textbooks. By my calculations, the first and second shelves hold: 60 books, many of them very large textbooks and bound books, and many paperbacks from 3 to 400 pages. I'm very surprised that a bookshelf at this price can fit all my different books and my printer and still has room for more things! If functionality motivates you, you won't regret your purchase. The glass is 8mm thick and can probably hold more than I have. If you love the look this is very high quality and the glass and metal combo looks great - looks a lot more expensive than $50. I highly recommend buying this bookshelf! I will update this review if it breaks down or something bends like metal bars, but I seriously doubt that will happen.
