I've been using my system for about 2 months now. Here is my setup experience. I usually read a lot of reviews and do a lot of research before buying things like this to avoid installation issues/frustration. All systems seem to have their installation issues, especially when it comes to remote viewing. My NVR is connected to one of the ports on my ASUS wireless home router with an Ethernet cable. After all the cameras were mounted and connected to the NVR, I viewed the cameras on a 20-inch custom monitor that I purchased for viewing without going through complex setup processes. Incidentally, the monitor is connected via a VGA cable. also outputs to the back of the NVR for HDMI output, and I bought/powered a 50ft HDMI cable from it to a 55" TV in my bedroom. Both monitors can be used at the same time. Nice to see what's going on outside on the big TV in the middle of the night. When it came time to go outside and finally line up the cameras, I downloaded the Reolink app (free) to my phone (an Android phone in my case) and the app popped up on my home network without prompting after the System wanted (to which my phone was already connected via Wi-Fi). It asked for my NVR name and password which I changed from the defaults during the initial setup. As soon as this was entered from my phone, I immediately saw the camera I wanted. How does this work for remote viewing, a question I can't answer, I just worked it out. When I'm not at home, I launch an app on my phone that prompts me to ask if I can view it over cellular data (in my case, T-Mobile mostly runs at 4G speeds). I click yes and connect to the camera I want to see - no stuttering or lag. Remote recording and photography can be easily started from the app. The quality of the video and photos is as advertised - quite excellent. Night vision is as expected - a little grayer than I like, but camera settings can be tweaked. Now you want to view/play the NVR both on your home desktop and on your home network - it's possible. In my case it took several tries to get this connection and I don't remember changing the configuration settings from one try to the next - at first it didn't work until it just "worked". I'm not new to the world of building my own PCs and running my own network so I'm up for most technical challenges but this part tested my patience a bit and wish it was as easy as getting it of the cameras visible on my phone. I would buy this system again and recommend it.
