I was looking for a security system for a long time before I came across this camera. I didn't realize I could just set up a camera and use the software that came with the camera. This camera is reliable. It has a metal body and a glass dome. I opened it up upon arrival and simply installed the micro SD card. The instructions were clear and simple, so I was able to set up the camera right away. I've had it installed on my porch ceiling for a few months now (I live in Minnesota). I've never had a single problem with it. I have a camera on my computer all day. I was able to set up alarms for nighttime motion detection, and email setup was relatively easy. (If I have to let my dog out in the middle of the night, I get an email immediately when she walks in front of the camera, as can be seen in my night shot) I didn't want people to be recognized standing on the sidewalk, and they Camera allows you to set up a separate area for motion detection. I haven't experienced any lag or choppy video over Wi-Fi. However, my WLAN router is within range of the camera (purely coincidental). There is a microphone on the camera that clearly picks up sound during playback. (I haven't seen listening to the camera while watching live.) There was an option to install a speaker if I wanted to talk to a person or pet in sight, but I declined. I look forward to getting another of these cameras to install in the back of my house.
