Maintenance for replacement is very simple. Pull tab while on Fluval spec 2 and 5 you have to take light off hood pull everything out and get water everywhere remove charcoal and biocarrier and rinse off then repeat everything i prefer chi method less mess. However the filter may not last as long as I was hoping the flow would decrease drastically and I tried flushing it by holding down the shower head and it improved a bit but not as it used to. However, it does its job well and seems to take up a lot of junk, so I'll keep buying it when it's no longer usable. Good fishing everyone <*))))<
