Review on Sunbeam S20 Electric Fabric Garment Defuzzer Sweater Shaver - Best Fuzz Pill Bobble Remover for Fleece Curtains and Clothes by Lokesh Das

Doesn't cut my wool very well

Firstly I've been using a sweater shaver for many years and I used to have one of those cheap ones but it still worked well enough. Over the years (depending on the item) I've used disposable razors, electric clippers, that angular device meant to remove lint and pills, and a tape roller for removing lint (and stuff you've shaved off). But the time has come, I wanted to move on to the best sweater razor. And for that main reason: I have a pair of Smart Wool winter socks that are well-tailored, calf-covering and designed for snowboarding and skiing. These socks are an investment and get dirty very easily. It's partly my fault as I now realize I really have to babysit her in the laundry (which I didn't want to do before). BUT, I have to depill them (all!) and prepare them for the season. I don't want to do this process more than once a year! Removing pellets from wool socks is no fun at all. So I bought a Sundbeam S20 Deluxe clothes shaver for my Smart Wool socks and some sweaters. We live in Minnesota, we have our own winters, so I'm preparing for that. The first impression was slightly disappointing. For the price I thought the build quality would be better and I expected the shaving mechanism in the cap to be better but it's actually the same as the cheap ones I've had just bigger. It's a big unit and that's a good thing. Loud (although this is not critical). The AC power is good and one of the reasons I bought it was that I didn't like draining the batteries. units!) IF it worked well. Unfortunately, it didn't help my wool socks much. I kept going through them, trying to make the tablets as machine friendly as possible, but it didn't work. To be honest I was surprised. I ended up giving up the new sweater razor on my first pair of ski socks after 20 minutes with little interest and grabbed a disposable razor for one (I had a volunteer) and a hair clipper. These two did better, still a lot of work for a pair of socks! but they did much better than this clothes shaver. (Use clippers carefully for this purpose - you need to be precise!) I've also tried a razor on a sweater, but not very well either. Honestly, I wonder if I could get a model that was returned after use. The blades definitely didn't feel sharp because they didn't even work as well as the others I had, supposedly of inferior quality. This block can work well for simpler tasks. But for my use it didn't cut the mustard. For the price, that should be at least a minimal to moderate improvement over smaller, significantly cheaper devices. I didn't think so. It's larger and has a power cord, so that's a good thing - and I haven't found a device that hooks or pulls on fabric, so that's a good thing too. But on my wool products it said almost nothing. I need it for that. So I'll probably send it back. *FYI - If anyone wants to know, the best way to wash your fancy wool socks (that I found) is to turn them inside out and hand wash. This friction causes the wool to pick up pills (as you know). It's kind of a pain, but keep it to a minimum.
