Review on ROOFULL External CD DVD Drive USB 3 by Jamal Murph

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The disk has arrived and although it is working, it is a region.

The drive has arrived and although it works it is a region 2 drive intended for Europe and other locations. USA is Region 1, so DVD videos won't play properly due to region issues. Whoever made and sold this drive should know enough not to sell region-locked hardware to a place the drive wasn't designed for. The cable installed for this is also very short and borders on the unusable side. And it looks like it will break easily where it attaches to the disc. If it breaks, the drive is ready. You cannot replace the cable on this one. He should only use a detachable cable as this gives the end user much more flexibility and replacement of broken cables. EDIT: I was able to go into device properties in device manager and change region lock from R2 to R1. This enabled him to finally start reading DVD videos. The seller's suggestion to just use VLC to get it working does NOT work. None of the media players worked as all of them either don't work and don't say why, or a few of them don't work and say why and throw an error about region incompatibility. Fortunately, it's possible to change the hardware region, but you can only do this a few times and the end user doesn't have to figure out how to edit the hardware settings to get the product to work at all.

Pros
  • CD and DVD drives
Cons
  • Sad hardware
