Review on πŸͺ‘ Mahogany Wood Restaurant Chair with School House Back - Flash Furniture HERCULES Series by Natalie Villa

Revainrating 3 out of 5

solid assembly, but unfinished design

Everything about this chair was initially pleasing to the eye and hand. Sturdy, well built, attractive finish. But then I noticed that all the major rear bars weren't the same shape. Some are straight and some are curved. Thus, the feeling of the back is uneven. The construction seems sloppy as some of the fins are of different lengths, causing some to flex more than others when reassembled. This defect is clearly visible even on superficial inspection, spoiling the appearance and indicating a significant lack of quality control prior to packaging and shipping. I haven't decided yet as I now remember having a similar problem every time I bought chairs and sofas that were delivered. It seems that every time chairs are shipped rather than bought directly from the showroom, there is a risk. Of course, what you see online or in a store will be chosen as ideal, but that's not what you get. If you get a perfectly made chair it seems good, but I can't tell what the odds are. Based on these 8 reviews, two of which have quality issues, your chances are probably 3 out of 4. I bought mine from Noteworthy Goods. Their price was better than a similar chair I saw at Pottery Barn but now I realize I can get a defective chair from them even if I pay a higher price. I haven't reported this to the carrier yet and I don't know if I'll have to pay the shipping cost to return the broken chair. I don't like this process of returning damaged or defective items that could easily have been spotted before shipping. This is a very cheap item and you might be tempted to cut corners on the manufacture, but in my experience this can happen with furniture from very high priced retailers as well.
