Review on Optimal ProStretch NightSock: Effective Relief for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendonitis, Night Splint Alternative with Added Toe Support, Fits Most Sizes by Jason Hill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I doubted it, but it worked!

I suffered from plantar fasciitis in one foot for almost a year, tried stretching and rested a lot but to no avail. So I got these NightSock as a last try before I go to the podiatrist and get paid a lot to wear a terrible foot brace for weeks or months. The first night I tried it, I used it as is with the plastic stiffening insert in my fingers. I wasn't aggressive with the angle, I just wanted to try and get used to sleeping with it. I woke up two hours later and my big toenail was in excruciating pain and I had to take it off. The next night I removed the plastic thing from the toe box and tried again. I almost made it through the night but my big toenail was badly injured again and was in a lot of pain. But for the first time in months, I got up and hobbled around with a lot less pain than usual, so I was excited. So on the third night I decided to loosen the strap completely and wear it like a regular sock. It worked fine and my toenail was happy but of course it didn't work for me as the strap was completely loose. So on the fourth night I decided to try something different. I readjusted the strap to hold my foot at a very comfortable 120 degree angle and *then* when I put the sock on I didn't pull it all the way in as usual. I ended up leaving only about 1/2 inch slack for my toes to be really comfortable, but it still didn't allow my foot to stretch more than 120-130 degrees when trying to point the sock. It worked! I walked all night, my toenails didn't hurt and the next morning when I got out of bed there was a very noticeable improvement. I lasted about a week in it, got very used to wearing the sock and walked around all day with much less pain. I wanted more improvement, so I started tightening the belt 1/2 inch each night until I reached 90 degrees. Beyond that, I didn't get any further. After a few months I almost got sick. now free! Sometimes I don't wear it at night, but I feel better the next day when I put it on. I'm able to hike and exercise again and I'm confident that in a few months I'll be able to stop wearing the NightSock altogether unless I have a flare-up.
