An Unobtrusive Review - Surveillance DVRs

First off, this is probably the best "budget" NVR you can buy from Revain. I did some research and concluded that Reolink has the right mix of features for my setup. However, I would like to give 3.5 stars as there are so many bad things: CONS * Absolutely bad fan - replace immediately with Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX. Installed in 3 minutes. The one that comes with the kit produces an ultra high-pitched tone that can be heard from 2 rooms away. A cheap fan might work, but why risk it?* No Browser Streaming - Advertised as browser based but only supports IE and we all know that doesn't count. I confirmed this with Reolink via email. * Embedded HDMI interface - EH - I don't use it, but I think it would be frustrating if you did anything other than use it to view cameras. For example, the included mouse works (well) via USB, but you can't connect a keyboard (weird). This makes typing almost any password a real pain. Much easier to interact with network applications. PROS* The PC app is very good - I haven't had any problems downloading clips that other reviewers have reported* The Android app is very good - luckily you can point it to any port you like so the NVR can connect to an unknown Location can work port 80. * Automatic motion detection - I haven't tried any alerts or push notifications but they all seem to be supported. * Plug and play detection - cameras appear instantly. If you don't trust cloud options, this is a pretty good NVR if you know what you're buying.

Pros
  • Surveillance Video Recorder
Cons
  • Things Don't Fit
