Many years ago I had elephant and frog humidifiers that worked well, but I got rid of them when we got a whole house humidifier. When I needed a humidifier for a bedroom in another house in January 2020, I didn't even consider buying another humidifier; I bought another elephant. Unfortunately, my experience with the new one was very different than in the past. Shortly after I set up my new elephant, he started licking. Then he stopped releasing the mist. I contacted the manufacturer who, after making sure I was only using bottled water (no essential oils etc.) and cleaning it according to directions, replaced it upon receipt of my defective unit. The new one worked great until the end of the season. It was cleaned and stored and taken out again in the fall. It was working fine until a few weeks ago (January 2021). He began releasing less and less fog. Yesterday when I went to change his water, the bottom of the machine was warm and the lid of the water tank was very hot. I let it cool down, cleaned it and poured in new water, thought I'll check in a few minutes to make sure it doesn't get hot again. Do not worry about it. He wasn't hot. It didn't clear any fog after the first minute or so either. Now I got rid of it and ordered a different brand humidifier. It won't be that cute, but I hope it actually works for more than a few months.
