Learn from my experience with this belt on a Honda Pilot

I installed this multi-ribbed belt at the same time as the timing belt on my 2009 Honda Pilot. A few months later there was a knock on the passenger side when the engine was idling. There was no noise when parking, but there was noise when turning on reverse gear or driving. While troubleshooting, I recorded a slow motion video on my iPhone. The video shows that the tensioner vibrates back and forth, causing noise. I figured I figured out the problem and replaced the belt tensioner that included the idler pulley and idler pulleys, although the noise didn't change. Research led me to others having the same issue with a Honda with the same engine (Ridgeline, Odyssey). The solution is to install a Honda OEM serpentine belt. The OEM belt is thicker than the Gates belt. The noise is gone with the stock belt. I don't think it's fair to say that the Gates belt is bad for all cars, although I don't recommend it for the Honda Pilot.
