Saves time, but is a bit expensive

As a beginner wine lover I was very interested in using this product as I found cheap wines tasted much better when decanted. Also, depending on the red wine, it may take a few hours to decant, so this product saves a lot of time. This is a very niche product and I'm writing it from the perspective of someone who loves wine on a regular basis. If you are an ordinary person who drinks wine from time to time, this device is not for you. Overall I'm very happy with how it works, but I have a few observations on how I've used it for a while. Pros: - You will definitely notice a taste difference when using this carafe. It works and will save you a lot of time. Easy to use like all Breville products I own. Just plug it in, switch it on, set the time and wait. Build quality is good, as with other Breville products, although the glass carafe is flimsy and I feel it could break easily. Luckily, ordering replacement parts for any Breville appliance is easy (I know this from ordering new parts for my smart toaster). Cons: - Very expensive. This article is not for your average consumer. You have to be a wine connoisseur and decant your wine every now and then to really appreciate this device. When I look at it, it looks like a mug from a science lab, not an elegant wine decanter. It does its job but damn it looks ugly. The size is a little bigger than I would like, but if you are someone who wants results, this is definitely what you need. I wouldn't keep this science project on your desk at home considering how ugly it looks. In addition, the glass carafe seems quite fragile. Cleaning tip: - If you like washing your glass carafe with soap, it's a pain. It's not dishwasher safe and you'll need some sort of brush to get at it. That being said, I wouldn't recommend using soap to wash the inside of the carafe. It is too difficult to completely remove all detergents without affecting the aromas and flavors of the wine. As for me, I just wash it off very well with a brush and avoid using soap. I know most restaurants don't use soap to wash carafes for this very reason.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I don't really dislike it, it's ok
