Product has very good thickness and weight for high traffic areas. Easy to clean and leaves no scratch marks. No discoloration yet, but it's early days. Spikes/teeth(?) It definitely hurts to step on or pick it up. You seem strong. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the rug can actually bite into plush rugs. Over time I noticed that it had shifted from where I placed it. First I had it on the stairs. I ended up moving it right after the stairs but even on level ground they still moved. So I ended up putting some carpet nails over it. Four of them did their jobs (two in each top corner) and the checkmate didn't move at all. I will probably buy it again and pin it to my front steps. The length, width and thickness is really just what I needed for my entryway to deal with wet or muddy shows and such. I don't mind "gluing" it in place, but some of you might do it.
