Review on πŸ”¦ NINEO H7 LED Bulbs: 12000LM 60W 6500K Cool White | All-in-One Conversion Kits for Halogen Replacement (Pack of 2) by Robert Hines

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Suitable for 3rd generation Outbacks but tends to wear out approx. every 6 months

I installed these in the low beam headlights on my 2008 Subaru Outback. They fit, albeit just barely. The heat sink on the back of the lamp has enough space in the headlight housing. But the ballast (power supply) gave me the most problems (it is not shown in the product photo). You need to plug it into the housing behind the reflector. It took about 10 minutes of fiddling to set it up. But if you tilt it at the right angle, it penetrates deep enough to seal the case without pinching cables or exerting excessive pressure. As far as I know all 3rd generation Outbacks (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009) have this projector style headlight housing. If you have trouble installing, just take your time and be careful. They fit, but installing the first one is a bit of a puzzle. When I put the headlamp housing cover back on, it snapped into place almost as easily as it did before the bulbs were installed. No need to pinch or pinch any cables when replacing the cap. In terms of performance, I am very satisfied so far. The brightness is much better than the regular bulbs that the car came with. Good color temperature too. It's slightly cooler than daylight, but not so cool that it looks blue. I only wear them for a week. But so far so good. If they fail me I will definitely update this review. Update 1: I installed them in spring and it's now over half summer, they still work fine. Here in Michigan, summer temperatures can reach into the 90's. I'm considering doing my hi-beams next as standard incandescent really aren't any brighter than LED lo-beams. Update 2: I noticed today that one side of a lightbulb was burned out. It's only been 6 months. I am contacting the manufacturer to try and get the lamp back. Update 3: RMA worked fine. It took about 2 weeks from start to finish. In order to make a warranty claim I had to provide a photo of the defective bulb with the wires cut showing the serial number label. Update 4: The other side has blown and I'm trying to do another RMA. The first bulb that passed the RMA is still working fine. I think (hope) I just got a pair from a bad batch. I will update my review again after this second RMA comes out. Update 5: RMA went well. I revived another lamp change. However, after a few months, my third lightbulb went out. They all fail in the same way. They start to dim, then one half of the bulb burns out, and shortly after that the other half. The manufacturer's customer service is excellent, but I am currently looking for other replacement brands.
