Our cats started using the scratching post and climbing on it while we were building it. They're chubby girls and they didn't blow his mind. This is true, although we couldn't secure it with an extra wall cable. I wish the wall cord was a little longer. Our girls are plumper and hammocks support them. They also fit in the square part of the house. There are no pictures in the instructions. One thing was spelled wrong in the instructions, but we figured it out quickly. The only confusing part of the construction was the house-level square construction. There is a pre-drilled hole for a rope toy hanging on a level below, and on the diagram it looks like a hole for a house, but the house actually fits in the hole way down the side. We love the fabric on it, very soft like velour. Our old tree was covered with a carpet-like fabric. Also, the top level is padded, making it a very comfortable place to sleep. Overall, I can absolutely recommend this scratching post and would buy it again.
